Questions

Can I get a home loan for a resale flat?

Yes. The bank values the property, checks the full chain of title, and pays the seller directly at registration. Older buildings may get a shorter tenure.

Is there a tax benefit?

Under the old tax regime you can claim interest up to ₹2 lakh a year under Section 24(b) and principal up to ₹1.5 lakh under Section 80C for a self-occupied home. Confirm the details for your case with your CA.

Can my wife or parents be co-applicants?

Yes. A co-applicant with income adds to your eligibility, and women applicants often get a slightly lower rate from many banks.
